New Passive House

Project Details

We designed a Passive House in Bethel, Maine and teamed up with an awesome local Passive House builder for the construction. Passive Houses are extremely well insulated and provide a much higher level of comfort ­even in a cold climate ­than found in the majority of new homes. In addition to requiring much less energy for heating, cooling, hot water and lighting, passive houses are more resilient than conventional homes. This house, for example, could go without heat for several weeks in the dead of winter and the temperature would not drop enough for pipes to freeze.
