Craftsman Style Addition - Newton

A Newton, Massachusetts homeowner approached Landmark Services to build a new addition to his late 19th century home. A fan of the architect/builders Greene and Greene, the homeowner wished to reflect their influence in the interior design. While not large in size (the room is about 16 feet square) the addition has high (12 foot) ceilings and a wealth of detail. It features radiant heat in the floor, a period style tiled fireplace, and beautifully crafted mahogany millwork. The addition flows seamlessly into the rest of the old home.

Outside,  we built a unique deck and pergola featuring cedar beams and stone piers built to match the home's original stone foundation. Between the new addition and the existing house we installed a glass roof and created a three season sunroom. We're very proud of the craftsmanship that we brought to this project and the homeowners are thrilled with the result. As old house contractors, nothing makes us happier than helping our clients realize their vision for their historic properties. Update:  Landmark Services won a 2009 Contractor of the Year Award for this project from NARI, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
