New Timber Frame Barn

Project Details

The owners of this Weston residence were looking for an outbuilding that would provide them with plenty of space for exercise and relaxation. They asked us to build a brand new timber framed barn that incorporated an athletic court and Great Room, for leisure activities. An important consideration was that the structure fits the historic nature of their property. To carry this out, we teamed with one of the premier timber framers in New England, Bensonwood.   

The result is a building that on the exterior is based on the "barn" vocabulary found throughout the region. The building fits seamlessly on the site. On the interior, the main volume is composed of the athletic court with a loft viewing area. The “porch” section contains a rich and inviting Great Room. Folding glass walls on both sides allows this room to be almost completely open to the outside.
